The Nitty-Gritty on Heat
Short-wave lamps are different. They hit harder and faster, pushing heat deeper into your materials than the medium or long-wave stuff. When we build these, we look at your specific voltage and wattage so the lamp plays nice with your power supply. If you cram high wattage into a small tube, you get some serious heat density.**Just a heads-up: keep your reflectors clean.**If they’re dusty or grimey, you’re basically throwing away a huge chunk of that energy.
What They’re Actually Made Of
We use high-purity quartz glass. Why? Because these lamps go through a brutal cycle of heating up and cooling down, and cheap glass just can’t handle that kind of thermal shock. Inside, there’s a tungsten filament doing the heavy lifting. Depending on what you’re heating, we can add specific coatings to the quartz. This helps us tweak the light output or give the filament a bit more protection. Then there’s the wiring. This is usually where things go wrong. We offer the standard R7s or SK15 connectors so you can just pop the old one out and the new one in. But if you’ve got some weird, non-standard lead wires, don’t sweat it. We’ll custom-crimp the terminals to match your existing harness. You shouldn’t have to rip apart your entire control cabinet just to change a bulb.
The Reality of Using Them
